Background
Founded in 1972 by Jonathan J. Woodman, an activist with a sense of the value of historic preservation and revitalization, Woodman Associates Architects has focused its creative energies on the cities of the Merrimack Valley and particularly, Newburyport, Massachusetts.

Design Services
Woodman Associates has a long history of the adaptive reuse of buildings. Many of our firm's early efforts provided a catalyst for local downtowns, encouraging them to capitalize on their unique character, while saving and revitalizing many underutilized buildings. Woodman Associates Architects also provides vital contemporary design solutions. Many of our projects deal with the sensitive issues of making new buildings fit into the existing fabric of a community, while still being reflective of their own time and incorporating current client needs.

Client Relationships
The firm has a diverse client base, from non-profits and government agencies to corporations, institutions as well as individual homeowners. In many cases, Woodman Associates has worked with the same client multiple times on consecutive projects, creating working client relationship that have spanned decades.

in downtown Newburyport.
